Chrysler TSB 18-24-95 describes the retraining procedure that allows the computer to relearn the correct shift points. This is also necessary if an electronic transmission or computer has been replaced. Some transmission problems may require "retraining" the computer. My grandson now owns and drives it all over the country and both the trans and AC compressor have never been touched!Ĭlick to expand. Here's the procedure I have successfully used, twice, on my '02 4th gen: This is a really good argument for my theory of leaving any AT alone as long as it works well and the fluid doesn't smell!! The only time I ever changed fluid/filter on my '67 Barracuda w/6 cyl 225 was when it was out of the car or once when I peeled back the cover corner on a rock. If this trans is so smart why does it not recognize this annoyance and override it? Is there a microswitch on the trans pan? I see no other way for this signal to happen. For the record, I'm no believer in Amsol, but this is the best description I've seen so far!!įor the control module to know this there has to be some kind of electrical signal to it. Here is what Amsol says, "the problem with hard shifting evident immediately after servicing Chrysler automatic transmissions with AMSOIL ATF is due to the transmission control module record of the mechanical service.". OK, so this happens - my question is, Why? So far I've seen some vague answers but I see no way this trans knows the fluid is new?
